A Review on CAR-T Cell Therapy
Akash Sani , Soumyabrata Sarkar , Subhadeep Maity , Dibyendu Mandal , Chandrani Roy

Abstract:

Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy is a promising new cancer treatment that involves genetically modifying a patient’s T cells to recognize and destroy cancer cells. This article outlines the concept, applications, and recent clinical studies related to CAR-T cell therapy. It also discusses the limitations and potential adverse effects, including high cost, neurotoxicity, and cytokine release syndrome. Although CAR-T cell therapy has shown encouraging results in treating hematologic malignancies, further research is needed to improve safety, enhance efficacy, and expand its use to solid tumors. Continued advancements in CAR-T cell therapy may revolutionize cancer treatment and significantly improve patient outcomes.
MicroRNAs and Oral Cancer

Abstract:

One of the most prevalent cancers and the important cause of cancer-related deaths in Asia is oral cancer. The pathophysiology of oral cancer is complex and a significant number of deaths are caused by this disease because there are insufficient reliable diagnostic techniques and effective treatment approaches. Thus, the development of new diagnostic instruments and focused treatments is desperately needed. MicroRNAs (miRs/miRNAs) have emerged as pivotal regulators in cancer biology, influencing tumorigenesis, progression and resistance to therapy. They are positioned as potential therapeutic targets or tools due to their potential to alter a variety of tumor-suppressive and oncogenic pathways. The aim of the review is to highlight an interconnection between miRs and oral cancer

Abstract:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing dentistry by enhancing diagnostic precision, personalizing patient care and optimizing clinical workflows. Leveraging technologies such as machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning, AI facilitates early detection of oral diseases, supports real-time public health surveillance and also streamlines research processes. Applications include AI-driven clinical decision support systems, smart toothbrushes, and mobile dentistry apps that promote oral health behaviours. Despite its advantages, including reduced errors and improved efficiency, challenges such as high costs, limited expertise, and data privacy concerns hinder it’swidespread adoption. This article examines AI’s transformative potential in dentistry, highlighting its applications, benefits, and obstacles, and underscores the need to address these challenges to fully realize its impact on oral healthcare.
Narrow band Imaging: Discerning the Unseen
Tiyasha Basak , Anwesha Banerjee , Kaushik Dutta

Abstract:

The management of oral soft tissue lesions specially the potentially malignant and malignant lesions lead to both cosmetic and functional deficit to the patient and the confirmatory histopathology is a time-consuming process which may be a reason for a reduced follow up and compliance of the patient. This review aims to elaborate regarding narrow band imaging (NBI) and how it (NBI) serves both the above purposes in an expeditious and non-invasive manner and thereby improving the lifestyle of the patients. It can be a better non-invasive and time saving diagnostic tool in the management of potentially malignant and malignant oral lesions in its earlier period as well as a better visual guide for preoperative and intra operative assessment of oral and oropharyngeal cancer.
Histotripsy –AReviewArticle

Abstract:

Histotripsy is an innovative, non-invasive therapeutic ultrasound technique that uses mechanical(nonthermal)energyto disrupt and liquefytargettissues. Unliketraditionalhigh- intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), which relies on heat for tissue ablation, histotripsy depends on the generation of cavitation bubble clouds to mechanically fractionate cellular structures. This review summarizes the history, mechanism, technological principles, clinical applications, advantages, limitations, and future perspectives of histotripsy as a novel therapeutic tool in medicine.
Mucormycosis: Devouring the Compromised

Abstract:

Rhino-orbital-Cerebral-mucormycosis (ROCM) has posed as a common post COVID fungal infection in India. It is a lethal, opportunistic, angio-invasive infection affecting the brain and paranasal sinuses caused by fungi of the order Mucorales. Even though this fungus is ubiquitous, the immune system usually prevents the disease. But in the covidien and post covidien period, Mucormycosis has become prevalent among immunocompromised individuals with systemic pathosis like Diabetes, HIV, predominantly due to the massive use of steroids in combating SARS-CoV-2 infection. This review aims to put forward an insight into post-Covid Mucormycosis and our role as Oral Physicians to combat this deadly fungus.
Gender Disparities in Clinical Dental Education: A Study on Student and Faculty Perceptions at M.N. DAV Dental College, India

Abstract:

Background: Gender disparities in dentale ducation remain a pressing concern worldwide, influencing students’ clinical experiences, mentorship access, and long-term career outcomes. This study explores the nature and extent of gender-related issues in clinical dental education at M.N.DAV Dental College and Hospital, University of Himachal Pradesh, India. Methods: Inspring 2019, across-sectionalsurveywasadministeredto236undergraduatedental students in their second, third, and fourth years, with a response rate of 36.4% (n=86). Simultaneously, surveys were distributed to 71 full-time clinical faculty, yielding a 47.9% response rate (n=34). The survey assessed perceptions of gender bias, clinical confidence, mentorship availability, and career aspirations. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and comparative statistics. Results: A significantly greater proportion of female students than male students reported that gender impacted their clinical training experience. Female students also reported lower clinical self-confidence and reduced access to mentorship. Nearly half (48%) of all student respondents reported witnessing or experiencing gender-based prejudice, and 7% reported exposure to sexual misconduct. Faculty responses revealed that female educators were perceived to receive less respect from students, and a majority of female faculty reported institutional unawareness of gender issues. Career trajectory data showed that female dentists were more likely to be employed in salaried roles, less engaged in continuing education, and more likely to take career breaks for family responsibilities than their male peers.
